Valentina Guerrero Marín
Born in Chile in 1994, Valentina holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts from the Pontifical University of Chile. In 2018, she participated in the Educational Program at SOMA, Mexico. Presently, she is engaged in the pursuit of her Master’s Degree in Research in Image Studies at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México.
Valentina's artistic exploration revolves around nuanced concepts encompassing nature, power dynamics, and the intricate interplay between the real and the imaginary. Leveraging diverse mediums such as installation, drawing, and glasswork, she crafts speculative narratives that weave together mythical realms, personal experiences, and historical events. Her distinctive approach is marked by an unwavering curiosity, delving into the construction of meaning through social narratives and the influence of capitalist values. Through her pieces, Valentina aspires to offer a fresh perspective on nature, prompting contemplation on how our connection with the natural world is shaped by an anthropocentric standpoint. In doing so, she invites us to challenge established perceptions through the transformative lens of art.
Valentina's work has been exhibited at renowned institutions with international presence, including Museo Anahuacalli, Museo Jumex, and Museo Carrillo Gil in Mexico, Museo de Artes Visuales in Chile, the Fortnight Institute of New York, Baitball in Italy, and Espacio Belgrado in Argentina. Her collective exhibitions resonate across borders, creating a visual dialogue that transcends geographical boundaries.
