Alfonso Badillo
Multidisciplinary artist and researcher, their artistic production delves into the varying hierarchies of power created through social dynamics, discourse construction, social narratives, and the value of institutions in the art world.
Their work was featured in the solo exhibition "El Cuerpo es una Habitación Vacía" (LC. Expos, Monterrey, 2021), which showcased paintings, videos, and installations that portrayed the imagery projected onto the female figure by gay men. This critique addressed the patriarchal gaze within the queer male community.
Their performative work has been showcased at various events, including the TimeOut: II National Performance Contest in Public Spaces (HorasPerdidas, Monterrey, 2022) and the 4th International Performance Encounter NLHUMA (Aguascalientes, 2022).
Recently, they were selected as an emerging artist in the 3rd Nuevo León State Art Award 2022, with their exhibition held at CONARTE's facilities.
They currently reside and study in Monterrey, Mexico.
