Jamil Fatti
Indiana, 1990
Jamil Fatti is Gambian-American artist based in Atlanta. With both parents born and raised in The Gambia, West Africa, Fatti’s work reflects his unique cultural heritage and explores themes of temporality, memory, and the human experience. He holds a Master of Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and dual Bachelor’s degrees in Landscape Architecture and City & Regional Planning from Cornell University.
Blending photography with narrative nuance, his practice reimagines fragments of the external world into evocative, subjective scenes that resonate with themes of transience and vulnerability. His work has been exhibited internationally, including two shows in Rome — Cinematic Pictures and Echoes of Yesterday at Millepiani Gallery curated by LoosenArt — and across the United States, in venues such as the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center, Microscope Gallery in New York, and Filter Space in Chicago.
Rooted in the ephemeral, Fatti’s recent projects delve into the emotional resonance of impermanence and the quiet search for meaning. His work is held in public and private collections, including the RISD Museum, and has been featured in publications such as Atlanta Center for Photography’s New South and Float Magazine.
