Joaquín Carreño

Joaquín Carreño, born in 1997, has studied drawing and composition at national institutions, such as the Academia de San Carlos in Mexico, as well as internationally at the Acadèmie de la Grande Chaumière in France.

His work is distinguished by his ability to merge unexpected elements and create new perspectives. By reinterpreting typical illustrations from children's fables with scenes of Mexican daily life, Carreño achieves something unique: revealing a hidden idea that blends nostalgia with social critique. His illustrations feature animals acting as Mexicans, prompting us to reflect on our cultural and urban identity.

In 2024, he was selected as a finalist in the Pictoline Illustration Biennial, Mexico. His work has been exhibited collectively at institutions such as the Alianza Francesa de México and the Academia de San Carlos.
