Lives and works in Buenos Aires
Since 2011, Fernando Brizuela has been developing artworks that artistically problematize the weed subculture exhibiting its diverse meanings and contradictions. These works set debates around the tight, unstable, and problematic relationship between weed and contemporary society.
The artist builds objects and paints watercolors from a current topic that involves strong positions, mostly antagonistic. Images in conflict with an underground universe, private and illegal, are made visible by making it normal in galleries, museums, and cultural institutions.
Many of this artist’s artworks deploy topical strategies that exceed the object in exhibitions that are often followed by conferences, round tables, or practical workshops that involve a large number of professionals or in music cycles that propose to dynamize the mere fact of contemplation.
